Alby

I just got an 8 week old Pup. It's a chocolate Lab, "Alby". They are a full time job. But great fun. Really happy I've got a little time in the country to finally/actually get the dog.

I've had a week out of the chair from today and itching a little to get back in. But after the win in Korea I'm trying my best to relax and steer clear for a touch more.

Now I'm following a Dog around with a plastic bag attached to me, and playing lots of Xbox. Just got a few games and I'm giving them a run for their money:)

Soon I'll be back in the chair, hopefully back in the classroom and then back to the race track. But no hurry this time:)

Last Leg for Stage 1 2009

Just about to head to Korea for my last Marathon, for the first half of the year. My last tour went perfectly. I won Paris, trained for a month in Spain and then won London in a new course record. It was as close as it comes and took a bit out of the arms but fantastic to get my first win up in the London marathon. It was the last of the big races that I have been chasing and a fantastic feeling to get it. One of the best!

I was on a plane the next day, with a touch of the booze legs and back in Aus mid week. Straight back into the chair getting ready for Korea. Qantas were fantastic again, throwing me in the front of the plane and I got home fresher then I left:)

I also got to be Groomsmen for my Brothers wedding and catch up with all the family. Fantastic weekend, and keen to thump this race out and get back and celebrate. I also ran into John Howard on my way home (Definitely loves his Sport) and saw a clip of my race in Beijing on the Logies!:)

A thousand things going on concurrently.. Also the Footy this year ahs been the best!! No clear cut favourites and keen to catch a lot more games now that I'm staying in the country over winter, for the first time since 1997.

I got a win in the first marathon of 2009. It was Paris Marathon and I got up by about 5 metres to a French racer and a Spaniard. It was a great first crack and the perfect warm up race for the London marathon in 2 weeks.

Since then I've been training in and around the Pyranese in Spain. The hills have been fantastic for training and I have had quality session after session. However an arm transplant would be appreciated about now:) So all in all everything is moving in the right direction.

I've also caught a few games of Barcelona FC as I've been staying a little outside Barcelona. They love their football and I've found my Spanish team to follow. Go Barcelona in the Champions League!!!

Wirlwind Month

I had an amazing trip through the Middle East. Incredibly generous and warm reception where ever I went. Amazing to meet those calling Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus home, and to visit the schools within the camp. The racing in Dubai was incredibly well supported but not exactly the results that I was after. Best result was a 2nd in the 1500m. Cant win them all though.:)

Had a great time with students from Ungary, Condobolin, Quandialla and Lake Cargelligo at the Borambola sport and recreation camp. I got out there the week immediately following my return. Also got to help out a Junior wheelchair racing camp for a couple of days in between. The talent at the camp is better then we have had for at least a decade and the boys are definitely smashing my form at their age.

Now I'm in the final preparations for the marathon season. Starts at Paris Marathon on the 5th April, then London Marathon on the 26th and finishing at Seoul Marathon on the 10th. Bring on the 42km's!!
